Three days of flowers, friendship, and the art of intention. Pause is a curated workshop experience for florists who want to slow down, go deeper, and rediscover their creative spark.
"The courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you."
Elizabeth Gilbert, Big MagicThe floral industry has been swept up in a "more is more" movement — breathtaking, complex, enormous. But somewhere in the scale, something quiet got lost.
"To appreciate a bendy stem. To give the butterflies space to dance."
Pause was born from a shared belief that the most powerful arrangements begin with a pause — one breath of intention before a single flower is placed.
Here, we teach restraint as mastery. We share everything we know. And we welcome you into our flower hearts.
Three full days. Limited seats. A complete experience — from the first stem to the final editorial shoot. Here's exactly what's included.
Every stem, vessel, and piece of foliage is provided. You arrive, we supply — seasonal blooms sourced specifically for each workshop.
Full hands-on tuition from 9am each day. Techniques, design philosophy, business insights — plus generous Q&A time built in.
Beautifully set tables. Styled lunch every day. The table itself is part of the teaching — we eat the way we arrange.
Your flower bible. Every technique, every concept, every piece of wisdom — documented and yours to keep forever.
The grand finale. Your arrangements are photographed professionally. Images to keep — and use in your portfolio.
Sponsor gifts from hand-picked local brands. Leather-tagged secateurs, artisan candles, handmade ceramics, and more.
Day one is about slowing down and opening up. We introduce you to our philosophy of restraint and intention, share our design language, and get your hands into flowers from the first hour. This is where your creative unblocking begins.
Day two dives deeper into structure and scale. We explore how to design a cohesive wedding world — from ceremony to reception — and introduce you to vessel work, tablescapes, and the art of designing with intention across a full event.
Day three is the crescendo. We cover large-scale installations — arches, hanging structures, ceiling work — and the day culminates in a full styled editorial shoot featuring the work of every student. This is the day you'll remember forever.
With over 12 years in the South African wedding industry, Anli is known for her romantic, effortlessly organic arrangements and her ability to create entire floral worlds that feel like they grew there naturally.
Amanda brings a depth of structural knowledge and an eye for drama balanced with restraint. Her tablescapes and installations have graced some of the Boland's most celebrated weddings and editorial shoots.
Anli and Amanda met at a flower business workshop in Stellenbosch nine years ago. As the South African florist community began to freelance for one another, their friendship grew — and they quickly discovered they were living the same philosophy.
Pause was born from a conversation about what was missing: space for slowness, for questions, for the kind of teaching that happens when two friends share everything they know without holding anything back.
They have now welcomed over 200 florists into the Pause family across 12 workshops — and every single one has been personal, intentional, and a little bit life-changing.
It wasn't just a floristry course, it was an experience. I felt so special, like an event had been thrown for me. I walked away and instantly put what I'd learned into practice.
The Pause Workshop experience brought back my creative spark. An experience I have not been able to stop thinking about — and that has changed my life and what I'd like to do with it.
Everything was insightful. Every single day I left with new knowledge, new techniques, new perspectives, and a head buzzing with creative stimulation. I left wanting more. I left inspired.
I think often people see a course and think it's too expensive — but I would have paid more if I knew it was this good. Gift yourself this experience. You will not regret it.
The workshop was invaluable. Anli and Amanda came to serve with their knowledge and did everything in their ability to give us the best — food, photos, floral guidance and experience.
The floral art became secondary and compassion for one another primary. From this experience we will all bloom into better people whilst dancing through the meadows of life.
We love a personal conversation. Every Pause is different, and we want to make sure it's right for you before you commit. Drop us a line — we respond within 24 hours.
